Race of the Year — Official Rules

Last updated: 12 October 2026. Promoter: Redec Industrial Ltd, trading as OriginalCaveman (company number 05394419, registered office 1 Easter Industrial Park, Ferry Lane South, Rainham, Essex RM13 9BP).

1. The competition

Race of the Year is a yearly competition in the OriginalCaveman Companion app. The member with the most race points at the end of the year wins a Caveman kamado.

2. Who can take part

• Members aged 18 or over who live in mainland UK, with an OriginalCaveman Companion account and at least one completed order on originalcaveman.com.
• Our team (admins and moderators) and their households can't win.
• Members who are suspended or banned at the end of the year can't win.

Taking part is automatic for eligible members, and there's nothing extra to buy.

3. Dates

Each race runs from 00:00 on 1 January to 23:59 on 31 December (UK time). Everyone starts each year on zero.

4. How race points are earned

• Race points are the Embers you earn that year from what you post: sharing cooks (1 Ember for a quick post, 5 for a full recipe, for your first 3 cooks each day; it was 5 a day before 11 October 2026, and cooks shared before then keep the old rule), fires on your posts, comments and replies, saves of your recipes (10 each), and Pit Chat answers marked as the solution (10 each).
• Only fires from customers and invited members count.
• Embers from shopping, and the bonus Embers for a Caveman's Pick, do not count towards the race.
• Each month counts up to a set limit, shown in the app, so steady posting through the year beats one lucky post.
• Double and Triple Embers boosts count, and a boosted month's limit rises by the same amount.
• The current standings and your race card are in the app under Account → Embers.

5. Winning

• The eligible member with the most race points at 23:59 on 31 December wins. The target shown in the app is a goal to aim for, not a requirement.
• If members are tied on points, the one who earned race points in more months of the year wins. If they are still tied, the one who has been a member of the app the longest (the earliest account) wins. There is always one winner.
• We check the winner's points before confirming them, and we will disqualify anyone who has cheated, for example with extra accounts or by swapping fires.

6. The prize

• One Caveman kamado: Prime or Barbarian, the winner's choice.
• Delivered free to an address in mainland UK, on a date agreed with the winner.
• No cash alternative, and the prize can't be transferred. If the chosen model isn't available, we'll offer a kamado of similar or higher value.

7. Announcing the winner

• We announce the winner to all members in the app in January.
• The winner chooses their kamado in the app, which starts a conversation with our team to arrange delivery.
• If the winner doesn't reply within 28 days, the next eligible member on the final standings wins.
• The winner's username stays in the app's list of past winners.

8. General

• We use your data for the race as described in our Privacy Policy.
• If something outside our control affects the race, we may change or end it, and we'll tell members in the app.
• Our decision on the winner is final.
• These rules are governed by the law of England and Wales.
