We didn't start a charcoal brand. We started an obsession — with fire, with flavour, and with doing things the honest way. This is how OriginalCaveman was built.

The Beginning — 2020

Started by Grillers.
Not Marketers.

OriginalCaveman was born in 2020, not in a boardroom, but around a fire. A group of people who genuinely loved cooking outdoors — tired of reaching for the same charcoal everyone else sold, and getting the same mediocre results.

We asked a simple question: what if the charcoal was actually exceptional? Not just packaged well. Not just priced to look premium. Actually, genuinely, exceptional in the bag and on the grill.

That question sent us down a rabbit hole of wood species, burn tests, density studies, and plenty of ruined meals — until we found our answer.

White Quebracho.
The Axe-Breaker.

After a lot of research and a lot of ruined dinners, we settled on White Quebracho — one of the densest hardwoods on the planet. Its Spanish name translates directly to "axe-breaker." That density is precisely the point.

It burns hotter, it burns longer, and it burns cleaner than almost anything else. Critically, it doesn't impose a flavour — it lets your food, your seasoning, and your technique do the talking.

We use 100% natural White Quebracho. No binders. No chemicals. No fillers. Sustainably harvested, purely produced, and honestly sold.

Sourcing the best charcoal in the world made one thing obvious — the grill it burns in matters just as much. So we went back to zero and started over.

The Idea Was Born

We made the decision to design and build our own Kamados from the ground up — our own standards, our own specs, and our name on every one. The goal was simple: premium quality, honest pricing, no inflated warranty nonsense. Two models were on the drawing board from day one — a 23" flagship and a larger 28" beast for serious outdoor cooks.

The Prototypes Land

The first prototypes arrived. Exciting? Yes. Perfect? Far from it. This was the beginning of a long, obsessive process of testing, cooking, breaking, fixing, and rebuilding. Every hinge, every gasket, every ceramic ratio — scrutinised. Every cook logged. Every flaw addressed.

Refusing to Rush

We could have launched earlier. Plenty of times it was tempting. But we kept coming back to the standard we set ourselves on day one — if we wouldn't be proud to own it, we wouldn't sell it. So we kept going: new balance hinge geometry, ceramic wall thickness adjustments, revised vent tolerances, better grate steel. Every iteration closer to what we knew it could be.

Production
The Prime & Barbarian Are Born

The OriginalCaveman 23" Prime and 28" Barbarian Kamados enter production — and seeing them built in the factory for the first time was a moment. Months of prototypes, arguments over specs, and obsessive testing had led to this. Both Kamados ship to your door in 1–2 days, fully loaded with 29 premium components each.

2026 — Now
The Family Grows

2026 is the most exciting year yet. We launched the Hunter and Hunter Pro — compact Kamados built for those who want the full OriginalCaveman experience in a smaller footprint, whether that's a smaller garden, a balcony, or life on the road. Plus a growing accessories range to go with every Kamado we make. The lineup is the broadest it's ever been — and we're just getting started.
